We are LEADERS!
Please help us make this holiday special for a child. Fourth grade is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the US Marine Corps’ TOYS FOR TOTS program.
Bring your new, unwrapped toy to school between 11/30- 12/8.
Look for decorated boxes around the school to drop off your toy.
Remember… Giving makes your heart grow bigger!

Congratulations! You are now a fourth grader or a parent of a fourth grader!
The fourth grade teachers would like to share some tips with you that will help your transition to fourth grade be a smooth one and successful one. We have a few expectations. First of all, addition and subtraction facts should be mastered. In fourth grade, we do not learn our math multiplication facts, we apply them. This means when entering 4th grade, all of our students must know their multiplication facts, through 12, and know them quickly. Our marker is for our students to be able to successfully calculate 50 facts in 2 1/2 minutes in August. By September, we will be learning multi-digit multiplication (ex. 43 x 57) so we do not have time to relearn basic facts or count on our fingers. :) You will see a few links below with some timed tests you can print and use this summer for practice. We are also including 3rd grade Big 20s so these skills will not be forgotten. You can find electronic timed multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction activities on the math page of our website.
In addition to math, the fourth grade teachers encourage all incoming students to read as much as they can this summer, practice writing about what they read, get familiar with the computer keyboard, and be familiar with opening and saving files on a computer. Lastly, the beginning of year expectation for writing is to be able to write a multi-paragraph piece, always remembering to indent and use capitalization. For keyboarding and other math or language arts help, you will find useful links on the school website.
We encourage you to investigate your teachers' website this summer, because it will become very useful to you next year.
Enjoy your summer and rest up. We are looking forward to working with you next year!
Sincerely,
Amanda Flanter, Cheryl Carnazzo, Bailey Fenwick, Katie Turner, and Deena Nowicki
